Kia Carens VS Mahindra Scorpio-N | MPVs over SUVs?

MPVs & SUVs have been taking over the market from sedans & hatchbacks. SUVs are the most preferred segment now with the maximum sales, but we also have MPVs growing with new products such as the Kia Carens. With the market accommodating new launches frequently, it can be confusing for the buyers as the prices are similar. Let’s see how Carens appears against the newly launched Scorpio-N:

Engine & Transmission

Scorpio N

Carens is available with the same engine options as the Seltos with both naturally aspirated & turbocharged options. While Scorpio-N only gets two engine options; petrol & diesel, respectively. Here we have them as follows:

Engine/Car Carens Scorpio-N
Turbo Petrol 1.4-litre| 140hp & 242Nm 2.0-litre| 203hp & upto 380Nm
Diesel 1.5-litre| 115hp & 250Nm 2.2-litre|132hp/300Nm or 175hp & upto 400Nm
Naturally Aspirated Petrol 1.5-litre| 115hp & 144Nm

Clearly the SUV; Scorpio-N is more powerful in both petrol & diesel versions but Carens gets more transmission options. Scorpio-N comes only with a 6-speed manual as standard along with an optional 6-speed automatic.
