Kia EV6 Electric Crossover Launch Report

Kia has finally launched its first electric crossover in India, the EV6. It will be imported as a CBU: a completely built-up unit in India, and the company will only bring the first batch of 100 units initially available at 15 selected dealerships. It is similar to its sibling Ioniq 5 and is based on Hyundai’s dedicated EV platform E-GMP: electric global modular platform. This will be their first electric crossover in India, followed by its sibling Ioniq 5 soon.

Design

KIA EV6

The Kia EV6 has a sleek design with a clamshell bonnet and the signature revamped digital Tiger nose grille flanked by LED headlamps & boldly split LED DRLs. It stands on newly designed alloys with substantial cuts along the side profile going across the body. The pillars & ORVMs have been treated with gloss-black, and the roofline is swept back. The continuous LED taillight design is also unique and will make heads turn as it goes.

Battery & Range

It will be powered by a 77.4kWh battery pack that churns out 229/347hp & 350/605 Nm of torque, depending upon the variant. EV6 offers a range of 528 kilometres on a single charge which has been certified by WLTP. The ARAI certified range is still awaited, and the real world figures will indeed differ a little.
