All is not well for the Korean automobile manufacturer Kia as due to the ongoing nation-wide lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic the launch of the brands third and the till now the most anticipated car the Kia Sonet which is all set to rival the Its cousin the Hyundai Venue could be postponed.

Speaking to a leading media house about the brand’s current situation, Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India, Manohar Bhat said: “if the lockdown continues in a very critical place for longer than what we expect, maybe May 18 or end of the month, then we’ll be in trouble.” The Ministry of Home Affairs announced on 17 May 2020 that the national lockdown will be further extended and now remain in effect up to 31 May 2020.”

Not only that according to leading media reports Kia is also planning to sell almost 70,000 units of the Sonet sub-4 metre SUV in the first year itself which means that the Korean carmaker is planning to dispatch almost 6,000 units every month and unlike the Kia Seltos the Sonet will be an exclusive Made in India product which will then be exported worldwide.
