Kia had revealed its first conceptual sub-4 meter SUV called ‘Sonet’ at the Auto Expo 2020. But things are about to change as according to the IPI ( Intellectual Property India website) website, Kia might have to change the original name of the car.
Earlier this year the Korean brand had applied for the Sonet, Sonet Concept and the Kia Sonet trademarks. But, unfortunately, all three applications are pending with an ‘Objected’ status, as the word Sonet has already been trademarked by a company called ‘Sonet Sanitarywares’.

Additionally, Kia has also reapplied for the Kia ‘Rio’ trademark after it was diligently rejected back in 2016. The status of which is currently ‘Marked for exam’.

Talking about the engine, the Sub 4-meter SUV will be offered with 3 engine options: a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, a1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. These engines will be mated with 4 gearbox options- a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT automatic and a CVT automatic transmission.
The Sonet SUV will also have some additional features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless phone charger, sunroof and ventilated seats might also add gems on this beauty.
