Mahindra Sold 2000 EVs In October

In a recent tweet by Mahindra & Mahindra Managing Director, Pawan K Goenka, he revealed that Mahindra has sold almost 2,000 EVs (electric vehicles) in the month of October 2019. The models included were the eVerito, eAlpha and Electric Treo which retailed almost 2000 vehicles in October.

The EV models included; the Mahindra eVerito, which is the electric version of the standard Verito. Other models were the eTreo which is an electric three-wheeler and the eAlpha which is an electric rickshaw.

• The Mahindra eVerito is available for sale for private as well as commercial usage. Equipped with a 31kW three-phase electric motor paired to a 21.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which produces 91 Nm of peak torque.
• The eVerito has a range of 181 kms and can charge to an 80% battery capacity in 1 hour 30 minutes using a fast charger. Normal charging, however, takes a good 11 hours and 30 minutes to full charge.

In recent news, Mahindra is planning to release the KUV100 electric or eKUV. The KUV100 EV has been doing rounds on Indian roads for long.

The eKUV100 is expected to utilise a single electric motor producing 40 kW and 120 Nm of peak torque using a 16 kWh battery pack placed underneath the floor.

The Mahindra KUV100 electric will be able to do 120 kms on a single charge, which is not good. However, there are speculations that Mahindra will offer a range-extended battery option with the electric KUV.

Mahindra aims to introduce the KUV100 electric at an affordable price to drive customers towards electric mobility. The pricing for the KUV100 electric is expected to be in the range of ₹10 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
