Mahindra XUV700 Variants Explained

It was Mahindra a month ago that rattles the Indian automotive market. Well, here we are talking about the unveiling of the new Mahindra XUV700. After a lot of testing, the XUV700 is finally in flesh and now we know the gist of what this value for money full-size SUV has on offer. That said, on the day of its unveiling, the company showcased the detailed list of the features, gadgets and gizmos that the car posses. But now, from the sources, now we know a little more about the new XUV700.

Mahindra XUV700 Variants

As per the information, there are leaks that Mahindra may launch numerous variants and configurations for the XUV700, 34 to be exact. But skimming the surface, the SUV will e offered in a plethora of trim, starting from MX, AX3, AX5 and the top of the line AX7.

Now things like the seating arrangement, engine options, features, etc, further divide the variants into subcategories, taking the total trim configurations to 34.

• MX3 Variant
  

  Starting the XUV700 line-up we have the MX variant. This trim is the most affordable XUV700 one and buy. And quite literally the price of the MX variant starts at just ₹11.99 Lakh. Well, this makes this SUV not just undercut compact SUVs but also sub-compact SUVs. But this doesn’t mean the car is bare-born, as it offers a little more than just essential features. These include,

  – Dual Airbags
  – ABS with EBD
  – 7-inch digital instrument cluster
  – 8-inch infotainment screen
  – Android auto and apple car play
  – Electrically adjustable ORVMs
  – Steering mounted controls
  – LED tail-lights

  The variant that may have the least number of alterations is the MX trim (only 3). Still, it also offers the convenience to choose either a petrol or diesel engine and also petrol AT.

• AX3 Variant
  

  

  It is the AX3 variant that gets many additional bells and whistles with the option to go for a 5 as well as a 7 seater. The AX3 variant comes with the same powertrain option i.e a petrol and a diesel motor. However, we assume that the AX3 will not be offered in petrol automatic trim for the 7-seater variant. Diving a little into detail, the features AX3 offers over MX are,

  – 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster
  – Virtual assistant, built-in Alexa

  Let’s move one up now, next comes the AX5 variant. Similar to the AX3, this too gets an option for both the diesel engine. Additionally, the AX5 can also be offered with both petrol as well as diesel with an automatic transmission with the convenience of 5 and a 7 seater. Now, being a superior variant it ought to have more features for the extra amount. So, the gizmos that the AX5 variant offers above AX3 are,

• AX7 Variant
  

  

  Among all the variants, it is the AX7 that offers the maximum number of configurations. Out of 34 in total, 17 are for the AX7 variant or rather the top-end model. So, if you fancy the top model, Mahindra offers the AX7 variant in Comfort (C), Luxury (L), Tech (T) in addition to the different engine options. However, the exact list of what this sun trim offers is still unknown. That said, AX7 will be offered as a 7 seater only. Now, we all are excited to know about the features that this variant offers as it is fully loaded. Over the previous variant, AX7 is pampered with,

  – Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) tech
  – dual-zone automatic climate control
  – leather-wrapped steering and gear knob
  – side airbags (7 in total)
  – Driver drowsiness alert
  – leatherette upholstery
  – 18-inch diamond-cut alloys
  – 6-way power-adjustable driver seat with memory function

  Now, other features that are a part of the XUV700 but may or may not come as standard are a 360-degree camera, premium sound system by Sony, blind view monitor electronic parking brake and more.

What powers the Mahindra XUV700?

Along with a unique drivetrain, the new Mahindra XUV700 comes with a couple of engine options to choose from. A Diesel and a turbo petrol engine.

• Talking about diesel, it is a new iteration of the 2.2-litre mHawk engine. This engine is offered in two states of tune. A 155ps and 185ps versions producing 360Nm and 420Nm of peak torque respectively.
• The most powerful engine in the segment is the new 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine. This motor is capable of generating a peak powerful 200ps and 380Nm of peak torque.
• Both the engine will get an option of either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic to choose from.

Mahindra XUV700 and its Rivals

Now, talking about the main stuff, the price because this is where everything lies.

As of now, Mahindra has revealed the prices of MX, AX3 and AX5 all being 5 seater variants and in one word these are mouth-watering. As the XUV700 line-up starts at ₹11.99 Lakh, which means it is cheaper than many of the subcompact SUVs. These include Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon.

Fun Fact: Mahindra XUV700 only costs ₹1.34 Lakhs less than the XUV300’s top-end trim.

Now, considering the higher variants, Mahindra XUV700 rivals the likes of all the compact SUVs including, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector. Also, the XUV700 is also pitched against the 7 seaters of the segment. These are MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari.

Coming to the AX7 variant, if we have to guess the price, this might range from ₹17 Lakh to ₹19 Lakh (ex-showroom).
