The Maruti Suzuki Eeco has recently been discontinued, it was one of the consistently top-selling cars every month! The Eeco was introduced as an up to date version of the National kidnapping Vehicle of India – the Omni. Today, let’s take a look back at the Eeco!
-
What was the Maruti Suzuki Eeco?
The Eeco was sold to fulfil 3 categories – personal owners, commercial owners, and cargo vehicles. The Eeco was available on both 5 and 7 seater options and was a comfortable mover. It also featured sliding doors, the trademark of the Omni and had huge windows as well. It got a 1.2L petrol engine and the option of a factory-fitted CNG. Power was thrown to the rear wheels.
-
Why discontinue it?
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco was doing well when it comes to sales, then why did Maruti decide to discontinue it? Well, because for once, Maruti themselves felt that the Eeco was not up to the mark when it came to design and features. Maruti has decided to launch a new Eeco later this year with a few updated features and a better design.

What features will be added to the new Maruti Suzuki Eeco?
The current Eeco was too basic. It missed out on features like seat adjustment, power windows, internally adjustable ORVMs, power steering, and much more. In fact, the Eeco only got ABS and airbags in December 2021! We expect Maruti to offer a few modern features on the Eeco now, at least as an option!
