Maruti Suzuki India Limited has finally launched India’s first compact SUV with stock CNG. The recently launched Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara now has a stock CNG option.
The new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG is priced at ₹12.85 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). With its launch, the Grand Vitara CNG has become the first compact SUV with a factory-fitted CNG option.

- The Grand Vitara CNG will only be available in 2 trims- Delta & Zeta
- On the power front, we see the same 1.5L K-series pure petrol engine, which pushes 101hp with a peak torque of 136 Nm when run on petrol.
- However, when switched to CNG, the power figure drops to just 88hp with a peak torque of 121.5Nm.
- The Grand Vitara CNG only offers a single 5-speed manual gearbox.
- Talking about fuel economy, we exposed the Vitara CNG to offer a fuel economy of 26.6 km/kg.
- Although the feature list is expected to remain the same as its ICE cousin.
- With the launch of the Virata CNG, Japanese carmaker Toyota is also gearing up to launch the CNG iteration of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder at the upcoming Auto Expo.
- With being the first compact SUV to come with a stock CNG option. The Vitara CNG currently has no active rivals in the Indian car market.
- Although its ICE cousin takes on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV300, Mahindra Bolero, MG Astor, and Skoda Kushaq.
