Maruti Suzuki Cars Prices Hiked!

Every year around this time, just like tradition, all manufacturers increase the prices of their cars, and Maruti Suzuki has hiked the prices across all its models. This is the second time that Maruti Suzuki has increased its prices in a span of six months, but the product being delivered is the same without any additional features or changes.

India’s largest car manufacturer has quoted that the prices of all models will increase by 1.7% on a weighted average basis. Last time they had increased by 1.9% in September 2021 and 1.6% in April 2021. Apart from this, in July, they had increased the price of its best selling model, the Swift and all CNG models by up to 15,000.

What’s incoherent about the recent hike, which is effective from January 15th, 2022, is the fact that Maruti Suzuki had stated the same reason, which is, increase in the cost of raw materials like steel, aluminium, copper, plastic and other metals over the last year.

Maruti Suzuki India has a slew of new models lined up for release in the coming months, and you can say all the cars have high expectations, and we are equally excited for all of them. A brand new model which is set to bring in more heat than Megan Fox in Transformers is the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Ok, that is not true, but you get the point ;-P. The Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha are enjoying the off-road SUV category without much competition, and we are sure the Jimny will give a tough fight.

We reported a similar price hike on the Mahindra XUV700, and you can read all about it here.

In the month of December 2021, Maruti Suzuki managed to export 1,26,031 passenger vehicles in the country while its manufacturing facility was still not running at full capacity. It also exported 2.05 lakh vehicles which is a milestone for the manufacturer.

We do not feel the price hike is justified, but obviously, we cannot do anything about it too. What do you think about the Maruti Suzuki prices hiked, and will you be at peace knowing that you would have paid more money for the same car that was bought at a lesser price just a month ago?
