Well, for one it is not easy to prepare for such strick emission norms in a really short span of time. Maruti Suzuki being no exception also had their all-in so as to research and develop new engines before the BS6 era could even begin.

Hats off to the Hard work

A company as big as Maruti Suzuki always has some trick or the other up to their sleeves. This time around they decided to bring a wave of BS6 vehicles before the new emission norms could even kick in.

This started with the Alto and Baleno a year prior to the BS6 roll out. After a couple of months, WagonR and Dzire followed. This was just 50% of what Maruti Suzuki planned.  The Ertiga, XL6, S-Presso just got upgraded before te year could even end. This is not all, the company launched the Eeco, Celerio, Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, Ignis this year. Maruti Suzuki didn’t even spare its only commercial vehicle the Supper Carry. This shows the sole dedication of the brand for the Indian market.

What extra did the company do?

All the companies in the Indian automotive industry were to prepare for what’s coming. That was the new BS6  emission norms. The new BS6 emission norms are more than 50% less than the old clean BS4 emission regulations. Preparing for such a situation in just 3 years is worth praising.

Maruti Suzuki is one of the first to launch BS6 compliant vehicles in the Indian market. It took over 11,000 emission tests across all the 14 models that the company offers. Even so, they borrowed the testing facilities from the testing agencies like ICAT and ARAI to test these vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki Sales | Verdict

As we know the Maruti Suzuki has discontinued its fiat sourced legendary engine the DDIS 200 which powered all its vehicles offering diesel till BS4. This is excluding the very powerful engine the DDIS 320 in the S-Cross.

For now, the company is offering only petrol engines with CNG options in some of the cars. The company ditched the diesel engine in order to go green. Along with the petrol, the company has plans to expand the CNG offerings in its lineup. Maruti Suzuki is also working on Hybrid projects for a better and cleaner car travel.
