What! Maruti Suzuki Recalls Ciaz, Ertiga & XL6
The first-ever offering by company having AGS technology was Celerio which was launched in 2014. Since then the popularity of the technology has increased. Maruti Suzuki sold over 2,00,000 automatic vehicles in the FY2018-19.
AGS technology has also been offered in models such as Alto K-10, S-Presso, WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Dzire and Vitara Brezza. The Torque Converter Automatic gearbox is offered in Ertiga, Ciaz and XL6. Baleno comes equipped with continuously variable transmission (CVT).

This major milestone reflects the growing customer acceptance of new technologies that brings comfort and ease of driving. By offering multiple automatic options, the company has been able to cater to diverse customers across segments.

An AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox works the same as that of a conventional manual gearbox, the difference is that the gear shifting is done by a control unit. So instead of a driver engaging a clutch and changing gear, the control unit does this for the driver. Whereas a CVT works due to centrifugal force and belt tension to transfer rotational from one cone to another.
