Maruti Suzuki is strategizing its launches to capture the hottest SUV segment in the market. After launching the Grand Vitara, they are set to launch two more SUVs in the Indian market. They will be making up for the previous monotonous year with the following upcoming cars:
This will be a compact SUV based on the premium hatchback Baleno. It will be based on the Heartect platform with a boosterjet turbo petrol engine and mild hybrid tech. Maruti might also offer the ongoing 1.5-litre engine with similar transmission options.
The design will be inspired by the Baleno & Futuro-e concept. It will be a more premium and rugged version of the ongoing hatchback, and it has been spied testing multiple times. It will be sold through the Nexa dealerships.
The offroader segment in India is a growing market. Until now, Thar has ruled the segment with most of the market, but things might change with new launches such as Gurkha. Maruti will fulfil the void of the Gypsy with the Jimny. The competition between these three offroaders will be a sight, as Maruti will take the edge with the pricing.
It might be powered by the 1.5-litre dualjet petrol engine churning out 103hp & 137Nm torque. Maruti might tune it differently to tackle rugged terrains. Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD will be on offer with a ground clearance of 210mm. The interior will also feature upmarket upholstery & 9-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity.
Swift has also been among Maruti’s top-performing hatchbacks. It has been running on the Indian roads since 2005. This hatchback has always been considered the sporty one out of the segment, and the generation updates with time have modernized it. Swift is also a popular project car among enthusiasts.
It is expected to receive another generation update and might debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. It will feature significant updates and might come with a new engine as well. With the growing CNG market, it might also be available with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
