Exterior | Maruti WagonR Electric
The exteriors of the car will sport a more futuristic look. However, it shall be noted that it still carries the same ‘tall boy’ boxy look. Apart from that, it gets a new projector headlamp, new radiator grille with chrome, body-coloured bumpers and much more.
The side profile of the WagonR Electric is rather impressive. The ORVMs in body colour, fender side indicators, B-pillar blackout and new alloy wheels add to the entire electric characteristic of the car.
In the back, the wide tailgate, new elongated tail lamps, roof-mounted antenna and chrome badging of the electric vehicle will give it a look worth turning the heads for sure.
Overall, the car does a good job, if not great in the looks area.
Interiors | Maruti WagonR Electric
The interiors might get a major makeover, for obvious reasons. As per the reports and the pictures it is evident.
The Wagon R EV will feature a host of design upgrades. The dual-tone interiors, an upgraded instrument panel, accentuated door trims and premium fabric upholstery for the seats are some of the noticeable changes on the Wagon R Electric.
WagonR Electric can be expected to have some convenience features of glove box with lock, bottle holders on each door etc. Manual air conditioning and entertainment system with steering-mounted controls might assure excellent comfort.
Motor and Battery | WagonR Electric
While we know about the battery, the entire list of specifications isn’t out yet. The Wagon R Electric is powered by a 50 kW electric motor. The overall power and torque numbers haven’t been revealed yet and will be specified during the launch of the vehicle.
The automatic transmission is used for a smoother and transmission of power and torque. This will mostly depend on the varying road conditions.
Performance & Handling
Maruti has already employed a number of Wagon R electric vehicles for testing all over the country. The performance and handling of the vehicle can only be speculated for now.
The Maruti Wagon R Electric performance will enhance with the improved vehicle dynamics and balance. WagonR if fitted with a superior suspension system. The McPherson suspension system at the front and isolated trailing link suspension absorb maximum road shocks, making the ride comfortable.
Mileage
The Maruti WagonR Electric’s mileage will stand at 90 kilometres per full charge. The overall mileage might narrow down to the maintenance of battery and other factors as well. In general, a mileage of 60 to 80 km per full charge can be expected.
Braking & Safety
The braking system of the EV is quite sufficient. It might have ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The body structure of the car is energy-absorbing, which might reduce the collision impacts.
Apart from that ABS and EBD is standard. The adjustable steering column, alarm system and the computerized anti-theft system are also expected to be standard.
Price
Coming to the main point of concern, the price. Maruti WagonR Electric is expected to sit at the 7 lakh mark. This is only if the state and central government subsidies apply. Without those, the car might go near the mark of 10 lakhs.
Launch
With the Coronavirus pandemic around the world, the launch of the vehicle seems uncertain. However, at present, the expected launch date is October 2020. MSIL has already been testing the cars all around the country to gain some stipulated date on their performance.

Verdict | Maruti WagonR Electric
Maruti has always been the one who plays on volumes. However, it seems the story with the WagonR Electric might not be the same.
While the car is expected to gain some traction because of the Maruti brand name and the trust it carries. The overall development and final verdict on the fate of the vehicle is yet to be seen.

2020 is already getting over. This may see the light next year only. And at such a high price, Tata Nexon or Tigor seems to be a better value.
