Mercedes Benz has recalled a total of 2.35 lac cars due to an issue in the seat belt buckles. A faulty seat belt buckle may not recognise a properly locked seatbelt and could eventually initiate visual and audio seat belt prompts. These are the prompts which indicate the driver to fasten the seatbelt. As a result, these could cause trouble confusing the driver.

Alternatively, if the buckle misinterprets the seatbelt as already fastened, it won’t give the user any prompts and could possibly lead to an injury in case of an accident.
