With the success of the Hector and recently the ZS EV. Chinese owned British carmaker MG aka Morris Garages has finally brought the first premium hatchback the MG 3 to the Indian shores.
The MG 3 hatchback is currently sold in countries like the United Kingdom, China and Thailand. If we talk globally the MG 3 is offered as a crossover which goes by the name of MG 3 X-cross which resembles the Maruti Suzuki S-cross.
MG Motor India, President, Rajeev Chaba, said “that the company will look into the possibility of launching the car in India based on demand”

- On the mechanical front, the all-new MG 3 will come powered by a 1.3-litre and a 1.5-litre petrol unit which will push the power output to 92hp with 118 Nm of peak torque. While the 1.5-litre unit will be capable of generating 105hp with a peak torque of 137 Nm.
- Both the engines will come mated to either a 5-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
- The MG hatchback will be 3,999 mm long, 1,728 mm wide and 1,517 mm tall and will support a wheelbase of 2,520 mm.
- Feature-wise the MG hatchback supports an aggressively designed front bumper with a honeycomb grille and a large airdam for better air intake.
- The hatchback also supports long vertical taillamps and a massive bumper with plastic cladding on the lower half.
- If and when launched, the MG 3 will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the Tata Altroz.
