All-New MG Hector Likely To Be Renamed

MG, already on cloud 9 with the sales of the Hector reaching nearly 30,000 units, the company is expected to introduce an array of globally launched cars in India at the Auto Expo 2020. One of the models expected to be launched is the MG Hector will underpin the same mechanical specs as of the current line-up.

Styling-wise, the 6-seat SUV will look more like the MG Baojun 530 SUV, an MG offering in China. The major difference in the styling will be the split-LED DRL’s (daytime running lights). The honeycomb grille’s shape and size is much bolder than the previous MG Hector. Another visible update will be the revamped headlamp cluster which will house the turn indicator and a dash of chrome. At the rear, the bumper appears to be updated with faux dual-exhaust tips.

Engine-wise, the Hector is to be powered by the same BS6 complaint 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol which offers 143 hp of power; a 2.0-litre diesel engine offering 170 hp, and a 48V mild-hybrid 1.5-litre turbo engine.

At the interior, the new Hector is expected to have the same 10.4 inches, portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with various in-car features. The panoramic sunroof is expected to make the sky-view at nights more memorable. The second-row bench seats are to be replaced by captain seats. The colour scheme offering can also be expected to be different. The company will offer the new Hector in a more premium segment.

The top rivals to the MG Hector will be the 7-seat Tata Harrier, the next-Gen Hyundai Creta and the Mahindra XUV-500. Will the 6-seater make a different name and be as successful as it’s predecessor, Let us know in the comments.
