Tata Harrier takes a hit but is still the 4nd best selling Mid-Size SUV in Nov 2022
Tata Harrier, the fourth best selling mid-size SUV in India for Nov 2022, saw a -23.28% MoM fall in sales. However, it still managed to hold on to its market share at 11.72%, which is impressive considering that we are talking about a brand new model here.
Tata Harrier is powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine with 167.67bhp@3750rpm torque output that can propel the vehicle from 0–100 km/h in just 10.18 seconds! It comes with an option of Front-wheel drive.
Mahindra XUV700 & MG Hector witness MoM growth but still far from their respective all-time high sales numbers
- Mahindra XUV700 sales is down by -1.96% over last month, while MG Hector sales went up by 8.77%. Both vehicles are still far from their respective all-time high sales numbers, but these two models have been very popular in recent months because of their affordability and good attributes.
- The Scorpio performed well with a total volume of 6,455 units sold during the month of November (down -13.22%). But The SUV saw an uptick due to its affordable price tag coupled with its impressive features like AWD and high ground clearance which make it suitable for offroad driving as well as regular city driving conditions where other SUVs struggle due to low ground clearance or lack thereof altogether

However, things have changed since then & this month saw an 13.22% decline in unit sales compared to last Month performance.
It seems like all these factors could have contributed towards its lacklustre performance during November 2022 as well:
- Recall-related issues (scheduled for Jan 1)
- Increased competition from other carmakers like Tata Motors’ Nexon & Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza (both launched around the same time as Mahindra’s SUV)
Tata Safari gets a new lease of life as it grows 0.91% YoY
The Tata Safari has been a great value for money SUV in the Indian market and it continues to be so with 0.91% growth in sales. The new-generation Safari that was unveiled way back in March 2018 has received excellent reviews from customers. It is one of the most affordable SUVs available today, but also packs in all the bells and whistles you would expect from this segment of vehicles including safety features like dual airbags and ABS brakes along with other comfort amenities like power windows, power locks etc., which makes it feel much more than just another run-of-the-mill SUV!

The best selling Mid-Size SUV in India for Nov 2022 is Citroen C5 Aircross. This comes as no surprise as it has been a best selling car with MoM of 40% growth. This mid size SUV in India to have a price tag of Rs 36.67 lakh.
The Third best selling SUV is Hyundai Alcazar which is up by 4.61% from last year’s numbers with 2,566 units sold during November 2022 compared to 2,453 units sold during November 2021. However, its sales are still good enough given that these figures don’t include any new launches like SUVs from both Maruti Suzuki & Toyota.
Our Take: Mid Size SUV Sales
The new mid-size SUVs have been faring well. The C5 Aircross seems to have had a good run and has seen an upward trend in sales lately. With the introduction of several new models by both companies and other major players in India, it will be interesting to see how long this product segment continues its growth story.
