What is this new Kia MPV?
KIA Motors recently trademarked the name “Carens” in India. Kia has been selling Carens as an MPV in foreign markets for over a decade. This might be the official name for the new MPV for India. We expect it to be on the same platform the houses the Seltos/Creta/Alcazar. In fact, the Carens might just be Alcazar’s Korean twin!

Engine
The new Kia MPV will most probably share the engines with the Hyundai Alcazar. It might get the 1.5L Diesel(115HP and 250nm) and the 2.0L Petrol(150HP and 192nm). We really hope that this new MPV gets a fresh diesel engine, because having a segment lower engine isn’t fair to the customers!

Pricing and Competition
The pricing is expected to hover around Rs.18-22 Lakhs. The “Carens” is supposed to be placed right between the Ertiga and the Innova. It will directly compete with the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and with some entry-level models of the Toyota Innova.

This is a front where Kia will surely not disappoint its consumers! Just like every other car, the new Kia MPV is also expected to be feature loaded. We also believe that it might get some ADAS features because that is the newest trend in the market! We do hope that Kia opts for a panoramic sunroof on this, it was a huge miss out in the Seltos.
