Each one of us expected the Mahindra Thar to debut at the Auto expo 2020 but sadly, the automaker decided to let the SUV skip the show. Sad! But all of us haven’t lost hope yet because Mahindra plans to launch the off-roader soon here in India. The model will receive comprehensive design changes on the outside and the inside as well. Mahindra Thar | Engine
The upcoming SUV will receive an all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. Mahindra will use the same engine to power the new Mahindra Scorpio and the next-gen XUV500. It is rumoured to produce around 140bhp of power and over 300Nm of torque. That’s not all! We can expect a petrol-powered offroader from the automaker this time!

Mahindra Thar | Platform
The Thar will be based on an all-new platform. The new GEN-3 platform underpins the current Scorpio SUV. The new SUV will meet all the safety requirements according to the updated standards.
The new off-roader will be bigger and bolder than the older version. The upcoming SUV will have all the modern elements in terms of features and styling. The spy images reveal that the new SUV will have the trademark seven-slat grille of the automaker, round headlamps, flared wheel arches, new LED tail lamps, a factory-fitted hard-top variant and five-spoke alloy wheels.

On the inside, the new Mahindra Thar will have a touchscreen infotainment system which will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV also gets multi-info display, remote locking and front power windows. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, central locking and speed alert will come as standard.
