Maruti Suzuki Celerio is one of the popular budget hatchbacks in India. It was launched in 2014 and was an instant success with big sales. Test mules of the new generation Celerio have been spied for a while. After seven years, the car is set for a generation change with major updates both interior & exterior.
The 2021/2022 Maruti Suzuki Celerio is expected to launch on 10th November 2021.

Engine Options
Currently, the Celerio runs on a 1.0L 3-cylinder K10 petrol engine making 67hp & 90Nm torque. Word around says Maruti Suzuki will offer a new 1.2L K12 petrol engine producing 82bhp & 113Nm torque. Both these engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT.
As the fuel prices are reaching the sky, this is a highly fuel-efficient hatchback giving a mileage of around 22kmpl. It will also come with a factory-fitted CNG kit which reduces the power to 58hp & 78Nm torque but a 30kmpl average.

Exterior Details
The new Celerio gets a new overall front look with a new oval front grille featuring a honeycomb pattern. The bumper is redesigned and gets triangular headlamps, and it stands taller with a revised bonnet.
It also gets bigger ORVMs with turn indicators integrated. The front grille also includes a chrome strip, and foglamps housings are catered with black elements for contrast. It gets a bit sporty appeal added with a slightly low roofline and wrap-around taillights. The tailgate is also revised & sculpted with refined curves.

Interior Details
The interior is expected to be more upmarket with a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system. It will include both android auto & apple car play and a multi-function steering wheel. It will also feature more premium upholstery with new comfort features.

Heartect Platform
The new Celerio is based on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform, which focuses on the safety of the cars. The hatchback is expected to be more rigid and safer than before, and this platform ensures better protection in case of collisions.

Features & Safety
Celerio scored zero stars in the Global NCAP crash tests. The new generation comes fitted with dual airbags, ABS & EBD is expected to achieve more. It will also include basic features like MID, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts & electrically adjustable ORVMs. Lastly, it will also feature Suzuki Connect updating the user with live updates about the vehicle with driving analysis.
