Nissan Kicks is one of the crossovers that Indians have loved ever since it was launched. Nissan will reveal a mid-cycle update for the Kicks. This crossover is there in the international market since 2016 and now with this upgrade, Nissan plans to launch it in the markets where it did not exist before. So we can suppose that markets like Thailand and Japan will experience the Kicks in the coming months!
The updated version of the Nissan Kicks will first be launched in the Thailand market. The spy shots have made us realise that the crossover has now got slightly more angular looks which resemble those on the newer Nissan crossovers and the Aria concept revealed recently. The headlamps are now less rounded and the V-motion grille merges really well with the bumper. Mild modifications on the rear bumper and the taillights are also expected.
Sources suggest that the Nissan Kicks will receive upgrades on the inside too. From better quality materials to an upgraded infotainment system, Kicks will have it all. The crossover will also feature LEDs and new alloy wheel designs.
Nissan’s e-power Tech will power the new Nissan Kicks under the hood. This technology is also available on the Nissan Note premium hatch which is sold overseas. Powering the crossover will be a 1.2-litre HR12DE three-cylinder petrol engine coupled with a 1.5kWh battery pack making a combined 129hp.
The international spec Nissan Kicks is based on the automaker’s V platform which underpins many other models from Nissan. The Indian version of the Kicks is based on the MO platform which is shared with Renault cars like Duster and Captur. The facelift is not confirmed for the Indian market yet but the existing version will surely get a BS6 upgrade with a 1.3 Litre turbo petrol engine really soon!
