Are you a fan of Nissan cars? Then, there is a good news! Nissan India has achieved an important milestone in compact SUVs, with the launch of Magnite CNG with an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). This is a unique improvement for people who wish for a combination of fuel economy with some advantages of automatic transmission, and a compact SUV body style for city and highway driving. Up until now, most CNG vehicles sold in India were only manual, which is probably not what people seeking ease of driving in traffic want. With this update, Nissan has plugged that gap and not only provide the manual transmission but has also made the CNG option with the AMT which they call EZ-Shift.
Let’s break down what that means for you and why this new update from Nissan for the Magnite CNG deserves your attention.
What’s New in this Nissan Magnite CNG
Previously, the Magnite CNG was available with a 5-speed manual transmission only. With the newest update, Nissan has made available the CNG option to the EZ-Shift AMT models, thus providing more options for buyers. Whether you enjoy the controlled handling a manual transmission provides, or the convenience of an automatic, CNG is presently made available in both variants. Another significant enhancement is the change in location for the CNG fuel filling system. In the past, the CNG filling point was incorporated into the engine bay and presented certain inconveniences, along with potential risk. This has now been seamlessly transitioned to be used with the main fuel lid for easier use, and more importantly, is much cleaner and safer.
Additionally, the CNG kit is also being offered to customers as a dealership-level retrofit; however, it is a completely factory-approved kit, so it does not void your warranty, and it will fit and finish. Furthermore, the company is also offering buyers a 3 year/1,00,000-kilometer warranty on the CNG kit in whichever case comes first, so this will provide peace of mind for buyers as well.

Performance & Engine Options
The Magnite CNG is based on the naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine that makes:
- 72 PS of power
- 96 Nm of torque
This engine is available in a 5-speed manual and in a 5-speed AMT. The petrol version already has respectable fuel economy at 19.4 km/l with manual and 19.7 km/l with AMT in ARAI testing. While Nissan has not officially released the mileage of the CNG version, it should be better than petrol, possibly around 25 km/kg or even more depending on driving style and road conditions. There is also a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol version of the Magnite that generates 100 PS of power and is available with manual or CVT automatic, however there is no CNG option.
