Hero Honda, a brand that gave us the Splendor, HF Deluxe and some other entry-level bikes that made it possible for the middle class to own bikes. Hero and Honda might have parted their ways now but still, we remember the bikes that led the nation to a future we live in at present. One such is the Hero Honda Joy. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at what the entry-level commuter had to offer.
2001: Hero Honda Joy Launched!
Before we take a look at other things, let’s first see what was there under the fuel tank in this bike.
Hero Honda Joy | Engine Specifications |

A good fuel efficiency, optimum speed and a 10.5litres of fuel tank capacity are what the Hero Honda Joy offered.
At the front, it had a telescopic hydraulic shocker while the rear suspension duties are done by the double-acting hydraulic shock absorber. There is not much to list down but the Joy had all the things required in an entry-level commuter. Be it the optimum sized seat, round headlamps or the strong chassis, Joy was meant to roam on the Indian roads.
On the looks part, it resembled a lot with the CD100 or the HF Deluxe except the round headlamps. You might even confuse between the Hero Honda CD100 and the Hero Honda Joy easily.
Talking about the dimensions, the bike had a ground clearance of 159mm giving it optimum riding capacity over the bumpy roads. The wheelbase of 1230mm allowed good riding posture and quality. It weighed 114 kgs, making it a bike with good power to weight ratio in the segment.

Was it a successful commuter?
Hero Honda Joy was not able to gain a lot of traction in the Indian market. This is the reason that many of us are not able to recall the bike when compared to the Splendor or HF Deluxe. Nevertheless, it can still be credited to be one of the initials from the brand in the entry-level segment.
