Skoda Kodiaq TSI Launch Delayed till 2021- Zac Hollis Confirms

If you had your eyes set for upcoming Skoda Kodiaq TSI, then you might have to wait a little bit longer as Skoda Auto India’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Zac Hollis, in a recent tweet confirmed that the launch of the brand’s premium SUV will be delayed till early 2021.

Why is the Kodiaq TSI delayed?

The Skoda Kodiaq TSI was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and was expected to hit Indian shores by the end of this. However, the reason for this delay is yet to be known.

Some say that the reason for this delay is the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic due to which the domestic automobile sector has taken a huge hit in the sales also resulting in a disruption in the supply chain.

Whatever be the reason, it is true that during the nationwide lockdown the Indian automobile sector did hit rock bottom with almost 0 sales for at least two months. This has also led many major carmakers to either shift the dates of their new launches or to put an indefinite halt.

What powers the Skoda Kodiaq TSI?

  • Under its hood, the new Kodiaq TSI will make use of a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine sourced from the recently launched VW Tiguan AllSpace.
  • The more powerful engine churns 190hp with 320Nm of peak torque.
  • The power will then be transferred to all 4-wheels via a standard 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

What else does the new Skoda Kodiaq have to offer?

  • Apart from the upgraded everything remains unchanged which seems to be not bad at all as its predecessor has made its mark in the domestic market. Take a look here

The price and rivals?

The prices for the new petrol mill will see a premium which might lead the initial price to start from Rs 33 lakh mark.

With its launch in early 2021, the more powerful Kodiaq will continue to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, VW Tiguan AllSpace and the Mahindra Alturas G4.
