Skoda Slavia VS Volkswagen Virtus- What’s Different?

Volkswagen recently revealed the Virtus for the Indian market. The Virtus is a mid-range sedan that will compete in the Rs.10-20 Lakh range. Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the Virtus is essentially the sedan version of the VW Taigun and is the sister sedan of the Skoda Slavia. Today, let’s see the comparison of Skoda Slavia vs Volkswagen Virtus and check out what’s different!

1. Engine & Powertrain

Both the sedans get the exact same engine and transmission options. These include a 1L Turbo petrol (114HP, 178nm) mated to a 6-Speed Manual/AT, and a 1.5L Turbo Petrol (150HP, 250nm) mated to a 6-Speed manual or a 7-Speed DCT. The 1L engine stands out as the least powerful engine in its segment; however, the 1.5L stands miles ahead of its competition in terms of power. 2. Dimensions

The dimensions of these cars are pretty similar. The Virtus is 4561mm long, 1752mm wide and 1507mm tall. The Slavia is slightly smaller with a 4541mm length, 1725mm width and 1487m height. Both cars have an identical wheelbase of 2651mm and a boot space of 521 litres.

3. Design

This is where you start noticing the differences. The Slavia follows an elegant, classy and detailed design, similar to what we have seen on the latest Octavia. The Virtus on the other hand follows a design similar to that of the international Polo. It gets an aggressive stance, sharper cuts and a sporty looking rear spoiler.

4. Interior comparison of Slavia VS Virtus

This is another important point when comparing the Skoda Slavia vs Volkswagen Virtus. Both the cars get identical features that include ventilated seats, a sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, tire pressure sensors, and much more. The interiors of these sedans are different. The Slavia looks more airy, welcoming and luxurious on the inside while the Virtus looks more sporty and aggressive. The Slavia also gets a luxurious looking 2-Spoke steering with chrome controls while the Virtus gets hefty 3-Spoke steering similar to the one on the Taigun.

5. Pricing

The Slavia starts at Rs.10.69 Lakhs and goes all the way up to Rs.17.79 Lakhs. Volkswagen has not revealed the pricing for the Virtus yet, but it will surely sit very very close to the Slavia.
