5 Suggestions For Improving The Hyundai Creta!

The Hyundai Creta is one of the best selling compact SUVs in India. Ever since its launch in 2015, it has won the hearts of many potential and existing customers. Good design, Hyundai’s reliability, amazing features and a comfortable interior, all these things appeal to every single person looking for a new car. And the Creta gives many first/best in segment features at a decent price. Things like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and rear-sun blinds really ramp up the premium appeal of the car. However, we still believe that the Creta can do better. Here are 5 suggestions for the Hyundai Creta.

  1. Improve Build Quality

This suggestion is specifically for the Indian variant of the Creta. While foreign variants do have a strong build quality, the Indian variants lack a strong outer shell. The major reason behind this is that since India doesn’t have very strong safety standards, manufacturers find it easy to cut some costs on the build quality. The KIA Seltos, which is based on the same platform as that of the Creta, scored a mere 3-Star rating in the Global NCAP crash test.

  1. Get a more Powerful Diesel engine

Currently, the Creta gets a 1.5L Diesel engine, that makes 115HP and 250nm torque. While these numbers look sufficient, they’re not very competitive. The top variants of the diesel cost almost Rs.21.5 Lakhs (on-road), and customers spending more than Rs. 18 Lakhs on a car deserve a better diesel engine. The Mahindra XUV700 offers a 2.2L Diesel engine which makes a minimum of 155HP and 360nm, and a maximum of 185HP and 420nm. Both these engines can be purchased well under Rs.22 Lakhs (depending on variants), if paired with a manual transmission.

  1. Reduce Waiting Periods

Okay okay, I know that the semiconductor shortage has been the key contributor to these elongated waiting periods, but the Creta has always had a long queue. Even without the crisis, the Creta easily had a waiting period of at least 3 months, higher for the base variant. This model has been in the market for a while now, and waiting periods can surely be contained with a simple analysis of the demand and supply.

  1. Cut out the SX (Executive) variant!

Amid the semiconductor crisis, Hyundai launched a new variant for the Creta line-up, the Sx (Executive). This replaced the older SX variant, which sat one position lower than the highest SX (O) variant. Earlier, the SX and SX (O) variants would get the same 10.25-inch infotainment system. However, now the SX (Executive) variant gets no infotainment system at all. Everything else remains the same, just no touch screen. Shockingly enough, some lower variants still get a touch infotainment system, that too with wireless connections for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto!Scoop! 1. Final suggestion for the Hyundai Creta- Give the Turbo Variant better Wheels!

Currently, the top-spec Turbo petrol variant of the Creta gets quite simple looking alloys. The diamond-cut wheels on the other petrol and diesel variants look much better than these. Hyundai, if you’re reading, this variant deserves much better-looking wheels!
