Tata Altroz vs Maruti Baleno vs Hyundai Elite i20 vs Honda Jazz

Tata Motors is going to launch another #SAFERCARSFORINDIA, the Altroz which recently earned a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP crash test. It will be launched on the 22nd of this month and will lock horns with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. Let’s take a look at what the car has got to offer against the competitors other than safety.

Tata Altroz vs Rivals | Price

Car Models Price (ex-showroom)
Tata Altroz ₹5.5lakh to ₹9 lakh(expected)
Maruti Suzuki Baleno ₹5.58lakh to ₹8.68lakh
Hyundai Elite i20 ₹5.59lakh to ₹9.41lakh
Honda Jazz ₹7.45lakh to ₹9.40lakh

Although the price of Tata 5-star rated hatch is not official, it can be expected to be starting at the lower end making it worthy to buy. But wait before you jump to conclusions. There are other parameters too before we can declare a winner.

Tata Altroz vs Rivals | Engine Specifications

Car Models  Engine Specifications Emission Compliance Power (HP) Peak Torque (Nm)
Tata Altroz 1.2-litre Revotron Petrol BS6 85 113
1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq Diesel BS6 89 200
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 1.2-litre Dualjet Petrol BS6 89 113
Hyundai Elite i20 1.2-litre Petrol BS4 83 115
Honda Jazz 1.2-litre Petrol BS4 89 110
1.5-litre Diesel BS4 98 200

Although Honda Jazz is the most powerful among all the hatchbacks mentioned here, the major point to note here is that the engines are BS4-compliant which means that they won’t be available after the BS6 norms are implemented. Hyundai Elite i20 is going to get updated to BS6 soon. Thus Altroz is the best buy for now if Hyundai and Honda don’t upgrade the engines. Maruti Baleno has got higher power than the Altroz but the peak torque is the same.

Tata Altroz vs Rivals | Exterior Features

Car Models  Fog Lamps Rear Wipers LED DRLs Alloys (Inches)
Tata Altroz 16
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 16
Hyundai Elite i20 16
Honda Jazz 15

Honda Jazz is lacking the latest features, with the only car with halogen headlamps. Tata Altroz here again has got good features with gold standards.

Tata Altroz is the safest of them all. Hyundai Elite i20 could have done better but then it is due for an upgrade thus making a possibility for better safety.

Thus Tata Altroz seems to be a very good choice in the market and a value for money. A few details will surely be disclosed soon after the hatchback is launched. Hyundai Elite i20 needs to get a few upgrades but it a good choice too if it gets a BS6 upgrade.

Impressed by the Altroz, book it here.
