As the sources say, the coupe version might be about 50mm longer. This is expected to be about 4.3 metres long and compete in the mid-size SUV segment. The longer wheelbase would contribute to more legroom in the rear and a bigger boot.

It will be built on a similar platform, and both siblings will have a lot of things in common. Tata would rework the design to help distinguish between the two, which gives the Coupe version a new rear with a new tailgate.

The front will not change significantly, but Tata will redesign the nose distinctively. Rear doors will be longer than before with the same tapering roofline and sporty appeal. This project was closed during the pandemic when Tata was not performing well, but the previous performance will open more new chapters.

Initially, the Nexon Coupe is expected in a pure EV version, and the IC versions will follow later along with time. While the specifications are not out yet, it is expected with a bigger battery than the one currently offered in the Nexon EV.

It could be a 40kWh battery with a minimum range of 400 kilometres. The IC engine variants would offer a 1.5L turbo petrol engine making about 160hp. This engine is still under development and is also expected to power Harrier & Safari.

Unlike other carmakers, Tata is not planning to ditch diesel, and the Nexon Coupe is expected to have an upgraded version of the 1.5L diesel engine with some more horsepower. Tata will have to cater to the BS-VI norms to keep the emissions in check and add power.

  • Launch Timeline

Tata planned to reveal this at the 2022 Auto-Expo in February, which stands cancelled now. They might reveal this at the same timeline, but the launch is not expected anytime soon. It might reach the markets by 2023.
