Tata Motors planning to setup new subsidiary for passenger vehicles

Tata Motors has decided to plan a separate subsidy for its passenger vehicle segment. The newly introduced electric vehicle segment will be included in the same segment. This new decision aims at facilitating a possible partnership or alliance that might get aligned in the coming future. Shailesh Chandra, the current president of the EV business will lead the separate alliance from April 1. The current MD of the passenger vehicle business- Mayank Pareek will retire in February next year.

The proposed scheme will be presented to the Tata Motors Limited Board and will be implemented through various arrangements. However, certain shared services and central functions will be retained at TML to deliver cost efficiencies for the entire group.

Tata Motors has gained popularity in the passenger vehicle segment. The new launches like the Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Hexa, Harrier and the Altroz are the reasons for the increased popularity of Tata Motors among the passenger vehicle buyers. Tata Motors has extended the passenger vehicle portfolio by stepping into the EV market. The Nexon EV is the latest electric vehicle in the market and Tata further plans to bring in the Altroz EV soon.
