Tata Motors to Set Up Over 300 Charging Stations by 2020

Much recently Tata Motors announced the launch of their most awaited fully-electric SUV the Tata Nexon, to the world in the month of January 2020. With that said Tata motors seems to be gearing up to the scene as now the company seems to be working on installing over 300 charging stations for their first-ever electric SUV the Tata Nexon.

It seems that Tata motors have already geared up to avoid any lags with the charging process as seen with the MG ZS EV. Tata motors have joined hands with Tata power to set up 300 charging stations across the country out of which 50 are already up and running.

Shailesh Chandra, President electric mobility business and corporate strategy, Tata Motors said. “We plan to set up 300 fast-charging stations by the end of this financial year, of which we have already installed 50”

The Tata AutoComp systems, Tata Motors electric automotive component manufacturing branch, has already in terms to get a partnership with Guoxuan High-Tech in order to manufacture battery packs for the Nexon EV.

The company has already initiated this joint venture at their Pune-based plant and is also in talks with Australian company Tritium in order to manufacture their DC fast charging units. the Tata Nexon EV comes powered with a single electric motor that generates 118hp and 254 Nm of torque with a standard 30.2 kWh battery pack.

Tata Motors Nexon EV will be launched in the month of January 2020 and will come with a price tag of around Rs 14-17 lakhs. This could make the Nexon EV the most affordable available as of now. Upon its launch, the Nexon will closely rival the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona electric.

The Rivals

The Tata Nexon EV will be launched in January 2020 and will cost somewhere around INR 14-17 lakh (ex-showroom). This will make it the most affordable electric SUV available in the market. The closest rivals (MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric) sit in a much higher price segment. It is capable of delivering a similar 300 km+ driving range. Tata Motors has already started the official pre-bookings of the Nexon EV.
