Tata Nexon Coupe In Making? | Coupe-Scoop

Tata Motors is all geared up with a solid strategy for the upcoming years to come. With a plan to update its incredible model lineup, Tata is set to push as many as 10 new electric vehicles in the next 5 years. Amongst the many wonders Tata has lined up, the Nexon Coupe is currently the most exciting. So here’s what we know about the Tata Nexon Coupe so far.

Design and Styling

The Nexon Coupe as imagined by SRK Designs.

As per reports, the upcoming Nexon Coupe will essentially be a stretched iteration of the Nexon compact SUV with an evidently coupe-ish stance. Reports suggest that the Nexon Coupe will offer a 50 mm longer wheelbase than the current version along with better boot space and wider legroom. The vehicle is expected to be around 4.3 to 4.4 meters in length.

In terms of design, the Coupe will be based on the same X1 platform as the regular Nexon and will largely resemble it, especially in terms of the styling of the doors, pillars, and windscreen. Beyond the B pillar, the Coupe will bring in something new, with a tapering roof, a large overhang as well as coupe-like rear doors.

Powertrain

If reports are to be believed, the Nexon Coupe will be first offered in an electric-only powertrain with a larger 40kWh battery pack that can deliver a range of about 400km. The same powertrain is also expected to arrive for the current Nexon EV as well.

Rumors also suggest that the Nexon Coupe could also be offered with a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with an output of about 160 PS. Other than that the Coupe can also support the 1.5-liter diesel mill as well. But all this is something only time will tell.

The ICE petrol and diesel trims of the Nexon Coupe will be smartly positioned to lock horns with mid-size SUVs such as the ever-popular Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Taigun, Kushaq, and a lot more. With better boot space, legroom, and wider wheelbase, the Nexon Coupe can potentially take over the segment in no time. And for the launch, get excited as the Nexon EV is likely to launch in 2023; which is not that far away now.
