Tata Nexon EV Gets a Certified 312 km Range

After unveiling the much-hyped Tata Nexon EV, the Indian company is looking forward for the launch after the range as claimed by Tata, for it’s Nexon EV was officially verified.

The ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) came out with the official figures which said that the mileage stood somewhere between 300-312 kilometres.

The bookings for the Tata Nexon EV began in December and the car is slated to be launched for the market on 28th January 2020.

  • The newly revealed figures state that the 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery packed under the hood can make the Nexon perform the 0-60kmph and the 0-100kmph sprints in 4.6 and 10 seconds respectively. These figures, make the Nexon EV the fastest car by Tata so far.
  • The Nexon comes with a battery regeneration system which is designed specifically for the Indian driving conditions.

You get to enjoy two driving modes namely, Drive and Sport, to drive around in the Nexon EV depending upon your needs.

  • Most of the features available in the EV will be accessible through the ZConnect app that will come standard with the car.
  • The app will be able to display your information like charge level monitoring, charge history and the available range the car has.
  • The app will also have the option to call the 24×7 Tata service centres available throughout the country in case of emergencies, locate nearest service stations and instant crash notifications to name a few.
  • The car will also have some futuristic features like pre-cooling the car, activating or deactivating the horn and headlamps so that finding your Nexon EV in a parking lot does not become a task.

The Nexon EV will be available in Xm, XZ+, XZ+ LUX variants, with some good looking interiors for grabs.

  • The Tata Nexon EV comes with a dual-tone interior option in the XZ+ options and above.
  • Automatic climate control, keyless entry, steel wheels will be available in the entry-level model.
  • The Nexon EV XZ+ variant adds features like 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, 7-inch infotainment system, leather-covered steering wheel and more.
  • Whereas, the top-spec, the XZ+ LUX variant will add a sunroof, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers to the car.

The Nexon EV tends to be economical and efficient at the same time with features that make it a good vehicle to use.

  • The Nexon EV as Tata claims would give the car a running cost of less than ₹1/kilometre which the company is about one-fifth of a regular IC engine car.
  • The fast-charging DC Charger is capable of charging the car from 0 to 80 per cent in just an hour, whereas, a regular 15A AC charger, it will take around 8 hours to attain full charge.
  • Tata is offering an 8 year or 1,60,000 kilometres warranty on the Nexon’s battery and motor pack as standard on all variants, which makes it efficient and safe.
  • The battery, based on Tata’s Ziptron EV Tech, is AIS 048-compliant, which implies that the battery complies with safety tests concerning nail penetration, crushing, fire, overcharge, shock and short.

The Tata Nexon EV is slated to be priced somewhere around 15 to 17 lakhs for the three variants it has put on offer.

With many companies investing in the Electronic vehicle sphere, Tata surely has the first-mover advantage with the Nexon EV.

However, it is yet to be seen if the Indian consumers are up for ditching fossil fuels for electricity.
