On Thursday 11th August 2022, Tata Motors was privileged enough to roll out the 100000th unit of the Punch compact SUV from its Pune manufacturing facility. This achievement made the Tata Punch the fastest compact SUV to hit the 1 Lakh marks which it managed to achieve in less than 11 months from its launch took place in October 2021.
The sales milestone is indeed a testament to the Punch’s grand success in India. Speaking on the achievement, Mr Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said, “We are delighted to share that Punch has achieved the 1 Lakh sales mark within a short span of 10 months. It is one of the highest-selling SUVs from our ‘New Forever’ portfolio. This achievement speaks highly of the strong response from customers and we are very thankful to them for their continued trust.”

The Future?
The Punch is Tata’s second product that is built on the ALFA architecture and was pivotal in creating a sort of a new segment for itself, by reinforcing a modern design language, versatile offerings, thrilling performance with ample safety and spacious interiors. Offered with a 1.2-litre Revotron engine that returns 86 PS with 113 NM mated to either a 5 MT/AMT, based on the Punch’s massive success it is possible now that Tata will introduce a new powertrain onboard. In fact, if reports are to be believed, Tata is also working on the electric avatar of the Punch, which can be another hit after the Nexon.
