      You can go for Tata Tiago if you are a bit short on the budget as the ex-showroom price for the XZ+ variant is ₹5,99,000. If you are looking for a more premium hatchback, you should definitely go for Tata Altroz XT which has a price tag of ₹6,85,000. The XT variant comes loaded with a lot of features. As for the Tata Tigor, it is a compact sedan version of Tata Tiago and the variant you enquire is going to cost ₹6,99,000. If you are not looking for extra boot space, there is no need to buy the Tigor. So, I would suggest you go for Tiago XZ+ if the budget is a bit low and if you can spend more, definitely go for the Altroz as it is safer as compared to the Tiago. Stay tuned!

    This company is relly think about Indians. It’s car is super sturdy and robust.Love TATA.
    Though Maruti makes Good cars, but it forgetting the safety aspects. And this company is sending it’s vechile to GNCAP…what’s funny…what it thinks, Indians are fool!

  4. Hi,, your advice sounds good , I want to purchase a petrol car with SUV like touch….I have had the occasion to travel on highway twice in s month and that too about 500 Kms..but mostly drive in the city with 5-10 Kms drive perday. Please suggest ,my budget is about 8-10. Lakhs

      If you are looking for an SUV experience in the budget you have mentioned, I would like to suggest you go for Tata Nexon XMA variant if you are looking for an automatic or you can go for Nexon XZ if you are okay with a manual transmission. Tata Nexon has a great build quality with more than enough safety features right from the base variant and will fulfil your desire to experience an SUV. Also, Tata Nexon offers a decent fuel mileage of 17-18kmpl in city drive and 20kmpl on a highway. Stay tuned!

  6. Can agree only to the safety part…rest all are no way comparable to competitors….. Specially the engine… Seems good on paper but sucks in real life…. But speaking of the price point for base model, it’s preferable over a Suzuki…

  7. Hello sir..my choice is Tata Nexon, but I have to ask you to please suggest me whether I go for diesel or petrol car…my budget is up to 8 to 10 lakhs… what can you suggest me?

      You can choose a petrol model if you have to drive your car locally. But if you have to travel long distances on a daily basis, the diesel variant is suggested as it offers more mileage and power. Although, the diesel variant will cost more than the petrol counterpart. Stay pinned!

      As far as the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is concerned, it is a really good car with optimum features at the offer. If you want a fun city driving car with a tall boy stance, Ignis is good to go. And if you are looking for a hatchback experience, you can go for the Tata Tiago. As far as safety is concerned, Tata Tiago is much safer than the Ignis. Tiago has scored a 4-star rating at the Global NCAP crash test while Ignis has a 3-star rating. Stay tuned!

      Being a new driver, you must go for Tata Tiago because of ease of driving and simpler dynamics. It has got a good engine, decent fuel mileage and optimum comfort features. And it has got a very good safety rating too.

      We would suggest you go for Tiago as it is a Value For Money car. For Tigor, you’ll have to spend an extra 1 lakh for the extra boot, which is not at all worth what you will have to spend.     I am using Alto 800 for the last 5 years. We are only 2 using ones in a month. I would like to go for another one. Preferance is safety, comfort, infotainment, rear camera, two air bags, abs.( If automatic with hill support). Budget is 7-8L. Please suggest.

      Tata Tiago is the best option in the segment and the price range you have mentioned. WagonR and Celerio would have been a good option, given they had better safety. But sadly, the Maruti offerings are not at par with the safety standards of Tata Motors.

  19. Hello someone asking Tata vehicles Need more maintenance after 15000 to 20000 kilometre running and its parts cost also too hi approx 20 to 27% as compared to Maruti Suzuki car.

  21. After sales services of TATA is not good. No punctuality is followed by service centers, impolite behaviour of service personals. As a product TATA is good but second and most important part is service, should need to improvements.

  25. I have very bitter experience with Tata Tiago. My new tata tiago XZA+ car has serious technical problems. It suddenly stops on road with alarm symbols engine stops. Within two months 2 times same problem faced. Past 6 days engineers trying to fix the problem. But not got clue.

    I was surprised to see the old model lock (stick model) and rear vents for top end model whic is costing me around 7Lakhs. Why should we compromise and why Tata didn’t take care of it.

    Grand i10 Nios sportz (petrol) & Tiago XZ+
    Please let me know which is giving best mileage and better maintenance. Kindly suggest. Please provide the reason to better understanding.

  29. This looks like a paid review .

    Biggest drawback of Tata Tiago is it’s lacklustre petrol engine. It is the least performing one among it’s rivals. Combined with a lethargic and poorly tuned AMT box it is a pure letdown.

    Pros and Cons are there for every car which should be mentioned in a review however u like one model or support any cause.

      You can definitely go for the Tata Tiago as it has got optimum power, safety and features. But if you can spend a bit more, I would personally advise you to take a test drive of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno as it offers a CVT transmission, a much better option than the AMT.

      Tata Tiago is a great choice if you seek safety upfront. But if comfort is what you seek, you can go for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno as it gets a CVT transmission in the automatic arena where Tiago gets an AMT. Overall both cars are great in terms of service and spare parts too.

    Does tigor amt has drive modes like Tiago?
    Overall if one compares on paper, tigor only offers bigger bootspace over Tiago..any other noteworthy features to chose tigor over Tiago?

  35. I will not advise you to go for Tata Tiago. This is a first hand experience. Am repenting purchasing one. Initially works sort of ok but then demands abundant reparing/replacement of parts which is an expensive affair. I hv been told to replace a machine part which cannot be done from outside.

  36. I own a Tata Tiago. Car is pretty good, but after sales service is poor, that I started regretting buying from Tata. Service personals are very rude and also service is just name-sake.

      Tata Tiago on papers has a powerful engine when compared to the competitors and is good for hill drive. For a real-world experience, we would have to wait for the corona to end so that we get to witness the cars from behind the wheel.

      I would agree with your point. Maruti Suzuki Ignis is surely a good car with a good cabin comfort. It is adequately safe too, scored a 3-star rating at the Global NCAP. But Tata Tiago beats every car in the segment when it comes to the safety rating.

      If it is an SUV you are after,

      1. Hyundai Venue – DCT Automatic
      2. Nissan Magnite – CVT Automatic

      Or will be a hatchback?

      1. Maruti Suzuki Baleno – CVT Automatic

      Yes, it is perfectly alright to go for an SUV as your first vehicle. Talking about safety, all of them get dual front airbags with many of the electronic aids like ABS and EBD. In higher variants, some of these vehicles get some more electronics like ESP. All in all, if you are spending nearly 10 lakhs on a car it will be safe. Hope it helps! 🙂

    i am little confused between Tiago XZ and Altroz XE. Although,Tiago XZ is rich in features but we can have same features retrofit in Atroz XE over the time. Would it be a better decision to have retrofit features loaded Altroz XE or company fitted features of Tiago XZ.

    Also this would be my first car.

      If the Tata Tiago XZ variant is in your budget, we’ll recommend you to go for it eyes closed. Sure, most of the bells and whistles in the top end trim can be installed in the XE variant as aftermarket, but they will not have the perfect fit and finish. Hope it helps, stay pinned! 🙂

  47. Hi Ritvik, have shortlisted Wagonr ZXI 1.2 ltr and Tiago XT. I currently own a wagonr vxi 1.0 variant
    Though wagonr is bigger and has better space, Tiago looks decent and has a better ride comfort.

    Wanted clarity on a few aspects before I freeze my choice.

    My old wagonr had a bad AC….when it comes to AC, which is better wagonr zxi and Tiago ( if anybody can help coz I travel a lot in the heat).
    Can I trust the AC ofwagonr zxi, given the fact that, car is very big for the 4 AC vents.

    Though Tiago had some vibrations compared to wagonr when I went for a test ride, that was not much of an issue.

    Some drivers whom ppl at my house inquired, told tata cars are bad and maruthi is good

    But Tiago looks heavy and solid in my opinion.

    How is the maintenance cost and service centers of tata?

    How is the resale value of tata cars in general nowa days given the current generation of tata cars are doing great.

    Lastly, can I trust my instinct and go with Tiago?

      Having driven both the latest gen Tiago and WagonR, I would like to say that the AC is a lot better on the waggy. Tiago has a lot of vibrations that are felt inside the cabin. No doubt with the fact that the build quality is good with Tata.On the other hand, Marutis are more practical in terms of daily use and maintenance

  48. I recently booked Tiago NRG as my first car considering the fact that it has good ground clearance and sporty look than Tiago xz+ , waiting for the delivery 🙂
