In a recent tweet, Sunny Madra, Vice President of Ford X called Tesla chief Elon Musk out on the unfair tug-of-war between the Ford F-150 and the Tesla Cybertruck. The test was conducted by Tesla.
Cybertruck Vs F-150; so was it really fair to pit these two against each other?
hey @elonmusk send us a cybertruck and we will do the apples to apples test for you 😉😉😉https://t.co/H3v6dCZeV5

Cybertruck Vs F-150
It all started at the Tesla Cybertruck launch event on 22nd November at Tesla’s design studio. Elon Musk showed off the Cybertruck’s pulling power by pitching it against the gold standard of powerful pick-up trucks Ford F-150.
Since then, many have insisted that the comparison was unfair. Automotive website; Motor1 picked this up and argued that they hadn’t performed the tug-of-war on level grounds. In the test, they pitted the Cybertruck which was in an AWD (all-wheel-drive) configuration against a base model Ford F-150. The argument was as follows;
Judging by the video, the Ford F-150 was a $30,000 STX trim with a likely 325 horsepower 2.7-litre engine — an unfair competitor to Tesla’s beastly truck that can go for up to $69,900 for a top trim tri-motor model.
Furthermore, the article stated “Simply put, the F-150 used in this video is noticeably lighter, cheaper, and probably significantly underpowered compared to its all-electric opponent,” reads the article. “And in a tug of war competitions, it’s the engine output and weight of the vehicle that basically decide the winner.”

TechCrunch found out that the Tesla Cybertruck was allowed to pull first, increasing traction. Also, the Ford F-150 would have fared better with both the truck bed weighted down in future.

So has the time come for Tesla to replace Ford? We think not. With a legacy of making good pickup trucks, economies of scale on their side, Ford does have an edge over the unconventional Cybertruck. Therefore, we don’t see Tesla Cybertruck making a huge dent in the sales of Ford F-150.
Was the tug of war fair? What do you think? Let us know!
