The First Tata Altroz Rolls Out | Launch Ahead

The Altroz is all set to be launched in India in January 2020. This premium hatchback will surely prove to be a great competition in its segment. Tata is currently building up hype for three new models – the Harrier-based seven-seat Tata Gravitas SUV, the Tata Nexon EV and the Altroz premium hatchback. We already have seen all of these in the news reports but the recent development was seen when the first unit of the Altroz was rolled out from the Chakan based facility in Maharashtra.

Tata Motors recently rolled out the first production unit of the Altroz from their Pune plant. The Altroz will be the 2nd vehicle after Harrier in Tata’s lineup to carry the Impact 2.0 Design Language. Also, the Altroz is the first of its kind being developed on the ALFA ( Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture. Under the hood, this car will have a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 102hp and 140Nm of torque. The Altroz will be available in both manual and automatic variants

Earlier, Tata Motors had decided to launch the Altroz in the Indian market in 2019 itself but delayed the launch because they want it to be BS6 compliant from the day it is made available to the Indian buyers.

The Altroz is expected to have a nice interior as well. The interior is built around a prominent central console. The dashboard features a free-standing 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The instrument cluster is partially digital and has an analogue speedometer. A leaked promotional clip suggested that the Altroz will have ambient lighting as well and is also expected to support Google based voice command functions.

We can expect the Altroz to be a really tough competition to the already existing top-selling premium hatchbacks- the Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
