Ever since Tata implemented the Impact Design philosophy back in 2016, its entire inventory has come alive. And with Impact Design 2.0, Tata’s already good-looking design became even more impressive than ever before. And the latest addition to the Impact Design 2.0 philosophy is the upcoming Tata Punch. The micro-SUV wears harrier inspired looks that the vehicle manages to pull off with grace. There’s black cladding, roof rails, defined wheel arches etc. on offer along with several cool design cues such as 16-inch swanky alloys.

As per reports, the upcoming Tata Punch will be Tata’s first “SUV” based on the ALFA architecture that debuted with the Altroz. The ALFA architecture is quite diverse and can be moulded for several vehicle segments. The diversity of the architecture can be known from the fact that the platform is capable enough to fully support electric capabilities.

  3. Powertrain

When it comes to powertrain, the upcoming Punch will arrive with two 1.2-litre petrol engine options. While the lower trims will get the NA unit that does duty on the Tiago and Tigor, the higher trims are expected to arrive with the turbo engine that is seen on the Altroz iTurbo. Transmission wise, the Punch will likely come with both a 5-speed manual and AMT on offer.

While the entire interior of the upcoming Punch hasn’t been officially revealed, we expect the interiors to be retained from the HBX concept that was loaded with a floating 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit much like the Nexon. The unit will be topped with Apple car play, android auto, and even Tata’s iRA Connected car technology. In addition to the infotainment premium sound from the house of Harman is also expected to arrive.

From the face of it, the Punch seems like a well-built vehicle ready to take on the market. Once launched, the Punch will lock horns with other micro-SUVs and tallboy hatches, competing with the likes of Ignis, Freestyle, and Mahindra KUV 100 etc. And since the ALFA architecture supports an electriconic powertrain as well, an electric Punch can be on the cards as well.

  7. Expected Price
