Cars reflect who we are coming in different shapes and sizes. And this is also the reason why there are multiple colour options to choose from. A German Chemical Company BASF survey revealed India’s taste in car colour options has changed. So here are the car colours India preferred in 2022
How India Likes Its Cars
India’s colour preference has moved beyond achromatic colours like black, grey and white in a country where even colours are considered auspicious. However, despite expanding horizons, white continues to be the top colour choice in India, with an overall share of 40%.
Following white is grey, which accounts for about 15% of the pallet share. Silver comes next at 12%, followed by black at 10%. Compared to last year, black is up by 7%, silver and white are down by 3%, and grey by 2%.
Overall, the achromatic car colour pallet has dropped by 1%, a huge percentage considering the total number of cars sold in India. In the chromatic range, blue comes out as the top choice with a pallet share of 8%, followed by red at 7%.
Another interesting trend noticed is the dominance of shades of green in the SUV car colour segment. Not just green but the entire shade range of green ranging from teal, olive, khaki, etc., account for as much as 4% in the SUV segment alone and 3% amongst all segments. Both brown and beige held 2% of the pallet share, followed by gold at 1%.
