If you are a regular reader, you might know by now that we have already told you about how many cars were sold by each car manufacturer in India in the month of February 2021. After that, we have also told you about the top-selling cars in the last month. This time, we are here with a detailed sales report where we will be focussing on a segment that has shown very quick growth in India. We are talking about the compact SUV segment! In today’s read, we will take you through the top-selling subcompact SUVs in India in February 2021.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Available in a petrol-only version after BS6 came into being, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been leading the segment in terms of sales. February 2021 was no different as among the top-selling compact SUVs in India, Brezza has the lead with a sale of 11,585 units in February 2021. We wonder how great it would have been if the diesel and the petrol version existed together!
Following the Maruti Brezza on the second rank is the Hyundai Venue. Available in both petrol and diesel fuel options, this compact SUV comes with a turbo DCT variant as well. Manual, automatic and iMT, you name it, Hyundai Venue has it! Meeting various requirements with its lineup, the Hyundai Venue is in second place among the top 10 most selling compact SUVs in India for the month of February 2021 with a sale of 11,224 units.
Following Venue is its Korean sibling, the Kia Sonet. Kia came to India with the Seltos which was successful but the moment Sonet came in, things changed forever! Sonet did some record-breaking sales in the initial months of its existence in the Indian market. For February 2021, Sonet ended up selling 7,997 units.
The flag bearer for safe cars in India! Tata Nexon was the first Indian car to get a 5-star GNCAP rating which is why people finally started considering safety while buying a new car for themselves. The Tata Nexon is in the fourth position among the top-selling compact SUVs for February 2021 with a sale number of 7,929 units and YoY growth of 104%!!
While Tata Nexon is already famous in India for its safety rating, Renault Kiger has just entered the game! This car was launched less than a month ago and for the first month of its existence, 3,226 is a really great figure! Well, without saying anything more, we wish luck to the new entrant in the market and we hope it achieves great in the coming future.
At the sixth spot is the Mahindra XUV300. Another safe car in the Indian market that is setting high standards for safety in the Indian automotive market. With a sale of 3,174 units, this compact SUV reported YoY growth of 31%! While Mahindra XUV500 is expected to blow the market up once it gets here, the XUV300 seems to be evergreen!
The one that started the trend of compact SUVs in India! Ford EcoSport still continues to sell in good numbers in the Indian market. For the month of February 2021, Ford EcoSport ended up selling 3,171 units which are just 3 less than the XUV300! This time, it displayed a 15% YoY decline in sales which is definitely a thing to worry about for the American automaker as they are already facing issues with car sales in India.
The Renault Kiger rival. Nissan Magnite is also one of the most value for money cars available in India. It has ended up in 8th place with a sale of 2,991 units which means there is an MoM drop of 0.66% which means Magnite sold a bit more in January 2021 than what it did in February 2021. It would be fun to see how Magnite takes over the Kiger or will it be able to take over its rival for real? What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below.
Toyota Urban Cruiser
Maruti Vitara Brezza’s twin brother, the Toyota Urban Cruiser is nowhere to be seen among the top-selling cars. But when it comes to top-selling subcompact SUVs, we have got too less cars to be mentioned the Urban Cruiser ended up being on our list! This one ended February 2021 with a sale of 2,549 units which means a 17.11% MoM drop and Toyota must pay attention to why people are still buying Brezza over the UC.
Last but not least, we have the Honda WRV on our list with a sale of 1,004 units. Merely crossing the thousand mark, this one is in 10th place in our list of top-selling subcompact SUVs for the month of February 2021. If we compare it to January 2021, we can see an MoM drop of 17.09%.
