Toyota Avanza MPV Globally Unveiled!

Toyota recently unveiled the third-gen of their 7-seater, mid-size MPV, the Avanza. The new Avanza is also on-sale in various international markets. It is one of the key competitors of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in foreign markets. With this update, the Avanza has received several changes, both on the exterior and the interior. Here’s what’s new on the all-new Toyota Avanza!

  1. New Platform

One of the most significant changes on the Avanza is the new platform. The MOV now sits on Toyota’s Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), which is essentially a low-cost version of Toyota’s TNGA architecture. The change in platform brings along a considerable increase in the length, width and height of the Avanza. Toyota claims an SUV-like ground clearance of 205mm on this one.

  1. Change in Drive

The older Toyota Avanza used to come with a rear-wheel-drive as standard; however, it has moved to a front-wheel-drive set-up with this update. This is mainly because of the new DNGA platform. Engine options remain unchanged. It gets a 1.3L Petrol paired with a 5-Speed manual gearbox or a 1.5L Petrol paired with a 5-Speed manual or a CVT gearbox.

  1. Design

The new Toyota Avanza gets some significant changes on the exterior. The design is now sharper and houses prominent creases across the body. The headlights have been slimmed down and are connected by a chrome line upfront. The older L-shaped taillights have been replaced by new, sleeker horizontal LED units extending to the centre. The Avanza also gets new bumpers, both at the front and at the rear. The design on the alloys has also changed, and so have the side skirts.

  1. New Features on the Toyota Avanza

The Avanza now gets a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android-Auto and Apple Car-Play. It gets lane departure assist, blind-spot monitoring, ESC, a 360-degree camera, and rear-cross traffic alert for safety.

  1. Will the Toyota Avanza come to India?

The Avanza will most likey not make it to Indian shores. The main reason for this is the Toyota-Maruti partnership. Toyota plans on selling its version of the Ertiga here in India.

  1. You have made a big mistake. You cannot launch 7 seater car with front wheel drive. Please don’t chase old avanza, we still like it due to rear wheel
