Toyota Corolla 2020 Latin NCAP Crash Test Results Are Out!

The 12th Gen 2020 Toyota Corolla has scored a 5-star rating in the Latin NCAP crash test for both adult and child occupancy. The car provided adequate protection to the head and the neck of the driver as well as the passenger. The car was tested with all the standard features it will be offered with.

The car comes equipped with 7 airbags (front, curtain, side head, side body and knee airbags), electronic stability control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), seat belt pre-tensioners in front and ISOFIX anchorages (for child seat) as standard features. The 2020 Toyota Corolla was subjected to three different tests- a front offset crash test at 64kph, a side-impact crash and a side-pole impact crash. The NCAP report stated that 12th Gen Corolla’s bodyshell was “stable” during the crash test and “capable of withstanding further loadings”.

The car score pretty well in terms of occupant protection. For the adult occupant, the car scored a total of 29.41 out of 34 points. The various body parts had either good or adequate protection against the crash. For the child occupant, the car scored 45 out of 49 assessed points. The critical parts of the dummy showed either good or adequate protection with no hazardous injuries.

NCAP crash test rating also includes other parameters such as vulnerable road users as well as the safety assist features. The 2020 Toyota Corolla also proved to be safer for vulnerable road users thus ensuring road safety too. The car comes with Auto Emergency Braking System which assists the driver while sudden braking.

The  Corolla is going to be offered with two powertrain options- a 177hp, 2.0-Ltr petrol and 1.8-Ltr petrol. Two electric motors will assist the engines.

The 12th Gen Toyota Corolla is expected to be launched in India in February 2020 with an estimated price of 15 lacs.
