Are there any Additions in the New Toyota Fortuner?

The launch of the legendary SUV was long overdue. With the rugged SUV just launched it gets numerous changes. The changes are not just restricted to the interior or just the exterior. Besides the Fortuner gets subtle changes.

Exterior Changes

What powers the new Toyota Fortuner?

Under the hood is where both the Fortuner and the Toyota Legender have no difference. Like the pre-facelift model the new 2021 Fortuner gets two engine options a 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 2.8-litre diesel.

  • The 2.7-litre petrol motor is identical to the one sold now. The engine produces 166hp of max power and the torque output sits at 245Nm. With this engine, there is an option of either a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT (Torque Converter) to choose.
  • The talking point about the facelift is the diesel engine which displaces 2.8-litres. This powerful motor makes the new Fortuner the meanest SUV in its segment. The diesel engine generates a whopping 204hp of max power and 500Nm of peak torque.
  • But the catch is the 500Nm beast only comes when mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. But in the manual avatar, the torque sits at 420Nm.

Is There a Price Hike?

Well, it’s a good deal when a company launches a facelift with the same prices, but this mostly is the case with dreams. So, yes the new 2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift gets a price hike. Is it justified? This is something only the time and response will tell. Additionally, Toyota Fortuner is among the favours in the full-size SUV market which will see many customers flocking in the Toyota showrooms.

We’ve seen a ton of activity in this segment and the addition of new Fortuner makes it even more interesting. Speaking of the rivals, Fortuner and the Legender sits in league with the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the recently launched MG Gloster.
