  • Engine

Toyota has not revealed the official powertrain details as of now, but we expect two engines to be on offer. The first one would be the 2.4L diesel engine making 150hp & already running in the Innova.
It would be a 2-wheel drive and will power the base variants, while the higher-spec versions are expected to be powered by a 2.8L diesel engine making 204hp. This engine currently runs in the Fortuner, and Toyota will offer 4-wheel drive with the top variants.

Hilux will be based on the IMV-2 platform, same as its siblings Fortuner & Innova Crysta. It will be almost 5.3 metres in length with a wheelbase greater than 3 metres, similar to its competitor V-Cross.
Toyota features a different design with a vast hexagon-shaped front grille with yanked back headlamps & LED DRLs. The wheel arches & chunky cladding add to the ruggedness of the truck. The rest of the design is similar to a conventional pick-up truck, but the well-cut tail lights add a little flare.

Hilux will share the interior components from the Innova & Fortuner, which will further help reduce costs. The dashboard and seats could be derived from the Fortuner too. It is expected to have an 8-inch touchscreen with android & apple connectivity; the complete feature list will be out near the launch.
