Toyota Recalls 44,000 Cars Over Engine Crack Including Camry Hybrid

Toyota Motor is recalling some of its cars including Camry hybrid running on a 2.5-litre inline 4-cylinder engine. The vehicles from a certain batch number manufactured from September 2019 up till January 2020. The vehicles recalled are.

  • 2020 Toyota Camry manufactured between September 12, 2019, and January 15, 2020
  • 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid manufactured between September 16, 2019, and December 19, 2019
  • 2019 and 2020 Toyota RAV4 manufactured between September 12, 2019, and November 20, 2019
  • 2019 and 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid manufactured between September 12, 2019, and December 10, 2019
  • 2020 Lexus ES 300h manufactured between September 16, 2019, and December 18, 2019
  • 2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid manufactured between September 16, 2019, and December 13, 2019

Reason for recall

Toyota has recalled all the cars from a certain batch which had the problem in the engine. While the running of the car, cracks are formed due to some manufacturing defect which was not analyzed earlier.

Due to there cracks the engine leaked engine oil, coolant.

These, in turn, overheat the engine or engines catching fire in some cases.

A smoking exhaust or engine warning lights flashing on the instrument cluster are the symptoms for the problem. This might indicate the engine has a crack on the block.

The Fix for the problem

After visiting the workshop the mechanic will check the serial number on the engine block to determine if it is part of a faulty batch or not. If it is the case, dealers will replace the engine without any cost.
