Toyota’s Upcoming SUV And MPV To Launch In India Soon!

Toyota and Maruti’s partnership has been giving us Indian some good cars, and they’re coming up with more. Up until now, the Urban Cruiser, Glanza, and the Hyryder, all have been doing decently well in the market, and Toyota wants to keep this going. For 2023, Toyota will be launching its version of the affordable MPV Ertiga, and it will also launch a coupe-style SUV based on the Glanza. Here’s everything we know about Toyota’s upcoming SUV and MPV!

  • The Toyota Rumion

First up here on this post about Toyota’s upcoming SUV and MPV is the Rumion. The Rumoin will come to India by mid-2023, and it is already on sale in foreign markets. It is very similar to the Ertiga. With this MPV, Toyota will have a 7-seater vehicle in segments ranging from Rs. 10 Lakhs to Rs. 35 Lakhs! The Rumion will use the same 1.5L K15 petrol engine from Maruti, and a 6-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual is expected. A CNG variant will also follow, but it is not confirmed as of now. For features, Toyota may go a bit beyond the Ertiga and pick up some features from the XL6 like ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera.

  • The Coupe SUV (YTB)

Another car here on this post on Toyota’s upcoming SUV and MPV is the coupe SUV based on Maruti’s YTB. It will sit on the same Heartec platform that houses the Baleno and the Glanza. YTB is the codename for the Baleno Cross, which will be showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. However, with this one, Toyota plans on making it different. It will not be a rebadge of the Baleno Cross, instead, Toyota will work separately on the design. The interiors, however, may be similar to the Baleno Cross. This SUV will compete with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and the Kia Sonet. Some premium features like a heads-up display and a 360-degree camera are also expected on this SUV. As we already know, the engine on this one is going to be a 1L turbo petrol, similar to what we saw on the Baleno RS that was discontinued earlier.

Here was a deep dive into Toyota’s upcoming SUV and MPV. While the Rumion will be a sort of rebadged Ertiga, the SUV here should be interesting. Even with the Hyryder and the Grand Vitara, there are visible differences on the exterior, with the Hyryder looking a bit more striking and appealing.
