TVS joins the electric scooter squad with the TVS iQube!

TVS iQube is the latest product from TVS. The two-wheeler manufacturer has entered the electric scooter market by launching this product. According to a source, TVS plans to produce 1,000 units of the iQube per month. The union government has been trying to make all the manufacturers shift their focus towards developing electric vehicles in India. This will help reduce pollution and also reduce India’s dependence on other countries for crude oil, thereby reducing the imports.

The TVS iQube has got a range of about 75km on a single charge and comes with a top speed of 78 kmph. The vehicle was unveiled by union minister for Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yeddyurappa. TVS plans to start selling it in Bengaluru from today, i.e. 27th January 2020.

The new TVS iQube comes with the next-gen TVS SmartXonnect platform. Also, the electric scooter has its technology software, battery solutions and programming made in India! That’s definitely a thing to be proud of! TVS is initially planning to kickstart the plans with 10 dealerships selling the electric scooter in Karnataka.

The TVS iQube comes with an on-road price of Rs. 1.15lacs. Bajaj launched the Chetak electric scooter a few days back. The Chetak comes with a starting price tag of Rs. 1lac and goes upto Rs. 1.5 lacs. We can definitely say that the TVS iQube is all set to compete against the Chetak in terms of pricing.

The TVS iQube comes equipped with a 4.4 kW electric motor. Some key features of the new electric scooter include riding modes (Economy and Power), park assist (reverse gear), Day and Night display and smartphone integration with SmartXonnect. The rider can access the real-time location of his scooter and the previous ride details are also available to the rider very easily and conveniently. Let’s see how this new electric scooter makes it through the competition!
