While the economy takes a toll due to the global pandemic, every industry in India has begun reviving itself. Although the Delhi Metro services have been restored from today, people are preferring the use of personal transport over public transport. Therefore, the automotive industry in India has seen a rise in the sale numbers. The lockdown has eased but people are very careful with their money considering the situation. The growing need for personal mobility has led the two-wheeler market to experience a boom too. Let’s have a look at the two-wheeler sales report in August 2020.
P.S. the rankings in the list are according to the cumulative units sold domestically and those exported overseas.
Hero Moto Corp
HMC has registered the maximum sales of two-wheelers in India for the month of August 2020. With a sale of 5,68,674 units, Hero Moto Corp has shown a great YoY growth (number of units sold in August 2019 vs the number of units sold in August 2020). Hero Moto Corp said that they are experiencing increasing demands from the rural and semi-urban areas due to which they have experienced an appreciable boost in sales. Also, the production capacity has been restored to nearly 100% and Hero plans to boost the sales further by opening each and every possible customer touchpoint.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India
While no one has still been able to beat the popularity of the scooter you see in the picture above, Honda stands at the second position for the two-wheeler sales report in August 2020. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter sold a total of 4,43,969 units out of which 4,28,231 were sold in the domestic market while 15,738 were exported to the international markets.
The third one on the list with a cumulative sale figure of 3,21,058 which includes the domestic sale as well as the exports is Bajaj Auto. Although Bajaj has experienced a drop in the YoY sale, the sale number earned it quite good considering the present pandemic situation. Are you a Dominar fan?
