The Different Types Of Helmets- Explained!

Knowing a little bit about different kinds of helmets can be useful, which is what we’ll help you with it today! Here are the different types of helmets that you should know about.

  1. Full Face Helmets

This is the traditional helmet that we’re all familiar with. As the name suggests, it covers up the entire face of the rider, offering optimum protection. These helmets provide enough protection from the winds, rains and outside noise as well. They are very comfortable when it comes to long-distance riding. Some good full-face helmets- Vega Cliff and Studds Thunder.

These are some of the most common types of helmets when it comes to short distance or city riding. They cover your head, forehead and ears leaving your chin and jaws open. They are considerably lighter in weight, which makes them quite comfortable for city traffic conditions. However, they are not the safest helmets out there. 1. Modular Helmets

A Modular helmet is a cross between a full face and an open face helmet. The front can be lifted up and the full-face helmet can turn into an open face helmet as per the rider’s convenience. The extra screws and bolts do make these a bit heavier than usual. Since they are not completely sealed, you can expect some wind noise creeping in at high speeds. Some good modular helmets- GoMechanic Anymal- Eagle and Vega Crux Flip-Up.

  1. Off-Road Helmet

Off-road helmets are specifically designed for the roads less taken. They are shaped in such a way that minimum dirt gets into your eyes. They use sunglasses instead of a visor to give better protection to the eyes. Off-road helmets have plenty of air vents that help regulate the airflow. These can get a bit uncomfortable when you wear them for a long duration. Some good off-road helmets- Vega Off-Road Helmets.
