This year, carmakers are planning to regain their positions in the market after a tough time in 2019. Tata Motors has already begun the triumph with launching Tata Altroz and facelifts for Nexon, Tiago and Tigor in January. What are the other manufacturers going to offer?     Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020, Mahindra eKUV100 will be the most affordable EV in the market once launched. The electrified version of the KUV100 will be powered by the mStallion Electric Powertrain which was also launched at the show. The electric motor will provide a power output of 40kW which will provide 120Nm of peak torque. The EV is expected to have a range of 147kms and a charging time of 60 mins for a charge of 80% using a fast charger.

    The crossover SUV from Honda received an update in 2017. Since then, this year will mark the next major change WR-V will be getting. The company has already started the bookings for WR-V 2020 with a booking amount of ₹21,000. The company has equipped the SUV with BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. In the design aspect, WR-V has got a revamped grille and bumper. The headlamps and taillamps have been LED-efied. For the features such as electric sunroof, steering mounted controls, rear AC vents and 7-inch infotainment touchscreen system, WR-V is offering a lot at such a price point.

As the diesel engines have been discontinued by the carmaker, Dzire will get a petrol-only 1.2-litre Dual VVT engine which will churn out 88.76hp of power and a peak torque of 113Nm. We can expect the Dzire 2020 to get a bigger set of brakes,  new wheel design and the premium wooden interior as well.

A 30kW motor which derives energy from a 216Ah battery pack will power the EV. The claimed range is 130km.

    Unveiled at Auto Expo as a concept, the Sonet is likely to come into production soon. Loaded with best-in-class features, Kia Sonet once launched will surely give its competitors run for the money. It will be underpinning Hyundai Venue in terms of powertrain specifications. 1.2L Kappa and 1.0L turbo petrol unit capable of generating 81hp and 121hp respectively will be powering the Sonet. The units will come mated to either a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT transmission options. The price it will launch at is surely a threat to rivals such as Hyundai Venue itself.

The company revealed its plans to launch Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza rival. The SUV will surely underpin the Renault HBC compact SUV. For the powertrain duty, the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine will be taking the job. A 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox might come in the transmission options. It will also have to lock horns with Kia’s upcoming compact SUV, the Sonet.

The first car from the manufacturer which will be equipped with one of these engines will be the XUV300. 1.2-litre turbocharged GDi engine will power the XUV300 Sportz edition. There are a few cosmetic changes to make it sportier.

  9. Tata HBX | From Concept To Production

    The compact SUV will launch this year. Production-ready specs were revealed by the company. 86hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that currently powers the Tiago, Tigor and the Altroz as well will power the HBX too. This car will be competing with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis.

  10. Renault HBC | Company’s Try In The Segment

    Based on the Renault Triber’s platform, HBC will surely attract customers towards it. 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox will power the Renault HBC compact SUV. It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Petrol, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and the Ford EcoSport.
