5 Stock CNG Cars to Launch in 2021

Who could have ever imagined at one fine day we would have to resort to CNG to fuel our cars. But, after looking at the current situation it seems that CNG will soon take over petrol and Diesel cars.

This might happen due to the ever-increasing prices of petrol and diesel which has not only left the people but also many carmakers to think of CNG as the primary source of fuel. With that said many carmakers have already begun testing Stock CNG variants of their existing models to help gain sales numbers.

So, does this mean that existing CNG king Maruti is soon to get new competitors in the stock CNG segment or the legendary brand will continue to the segment as always? So here are 5 upcoming CNG cars set to launch this year.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire S-CNG

So you thought the king of CNG cars will sit back and see its competitors outshine itself?. The simple answer to this question is ‘NO’. some of us might recall that a few years back Maruti did offer a stock CNG variant on the Dzire but due to fewer sales numbers, the model was then discontinued.

But now the homegrown brand is all set to re-introduce the S-CNG Dzire during the upcoming festive season. The brand has already begun testing the new CNG variant which is set to offer the same 1.2-litre K12M Dualjet engine.

This is what some of us might have been waiting for a while now?. The fight between two of the best selling Indian hatchbacks, The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Tata Tiago. The Tiago has been of the best and India’s first 4-star safety rated car which is about to get a stock CNG variant as well.

Yes! going by leading media reports and a few spy shots Tata is getting ready to launch a CNG variant of the Tiago. The Tata Tiago CNG is also scheduled to launch during Diwali.

Under its hood, it will feature the same 1.2 -litre NA petrol engine. This engine usually churns out 85 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque, but with a stock CNG kit you can expect it to produce less power.

Honda Amaze CNG

How can the Japanese stay away from all the fun. Following the footsteps of the Indian carmaker, Honda has also started to test the CNG variant of the only subcompact sedan and the Hyundai Aura rival, The Honda Amaze.

Much recently a test mule of the 2021 Honda Amaze facelift sporting a CNG test kit was spotted testing on Indian roads. However, the launch timeline of the Honda Amaze CNG remains unknown.

The stock CNG Amaze will come powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.2 litre NA petrol engine on the mechanical front.

Tata Tigor CNG

Taking cues from its hatchback cousin, Tata is also planning to introduce a CNG on the Tigor as well. However, information on the new stock CNG sub-compact sedan is pretty scarce, but we’ll surely get to hear some information about the Tata Tigor CNG in the coming days.

Following its sedan cousin, the Maruti Suzuki Swift is also set to make its entrance in the CNG market. Much recently spy shots of the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift sporting a CNG testing kit was spotted testing.

It is also speculated that the Maruti Suzuki Swift S-CNG will launch during Diwali. The Swift has been on top of the best selling hatchback list for quite some time but it will be really fun to see whether the more pocket-friendly CNG will add on to the existing sales number.
